Now Offering Striking
RPMA is now offering Kickboxing
We are launching our Kickboxing program with a free class:
Monday, February 12th
The class is taught by Jarrett McBride. He has a strong striking background in both Muay Thai Boxing and TKD, he recently won his match at the Rochester NY MMA event Rage in the Cage. His next fight is already scheduled.
If you have hand wraps you should bring them, gloves are not necessary but bring them if you have a pair.
This class is designed for fighters, but will also get you in shape

We had an awesome time at the Community Roll this month! For those who aren't familiar, a community roll is when a bunch of different Jiu Jitsu schools get together and roll. It allows you to go with a variety of different people and practice your skills with new and unfamiliar partners. The great thing about Jiu Jitsu is that the mat keeps everything real. How do your skills compare to another student from a different school but who's at the same rank? Overall, it's an amazing gathering of martial artists who have a mutual love and respect for the art. I can't wait to do it again!

Getting in the Reps
This week Professor Jason Eggleston gave us all an assignment: 1,000 reps of a fairly simple technique series. We're supposed to drill these everyday, aiming for a total of 1,000 reps. Professor Eggleston says this is the not fun side of Jiu Jitsu.
-Trap and roll to guard pass
-Trap and roll to 1/2 guard, to "dog fight," to back take
-Trap and roll to Ashi Garami, to sweep
I accept this challenge.
Proud of Our Training Team
We might be a relatively new Jiu Jitsu School, but heading into our fourth year of operation we feel more confident than ever. Being new doesn't mean we're taking it easy. Every night we have solid roll time, in both Jiu Jitsu and Judo.
That being said, we have some announcements that are long over due.
Chris Smith was promoted to purple belt, and Brennan Strimple received his first stripe on his purple belt. Leigh Strimple earned her first stripe on her blue belt. Andrew Bragg earned his blue belt. We might be new, but we train hard.
Train diligently, and you will reach your goals. We have programs for everyone.
We were thrilled to be a part of Rage in the Cage, an amateur MMA event here in Rochester. Brennan Strimple helped to corner Jarrett McBride in his match. Brennan is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has a strong striking background, holding a black belt in Kyokushin Karate and a 3rd degree black belt in Isshin Ryu. He also helped prepare Jarrett for his match. Along with his striking and grappling work, Jarrett also did some Judo training with Sensei Casey Jordan. The competition was fierce, the caliber of fighters participating in the Rochester amateur MMA scene is superb. The striking was especially impressive. Jarrett won his match and walked away already thinking about how to develop his game even further.
Looking to train MMA? Our gym offers cross training opportunities in everything you need: Striking, grappling, takedowns, and actual fighting technique.
